Abstract
The Federal Energy Efficiency Act is a legal framework for reducing energy consumption, increasing energy efficiency and promoting the sustainable use of energy resources in households, companies and government institutions. It contains regulations on energy consumption recording, monitoring and the implementation of energy efficiency measures. Among other things, the Act stipulates that final energy consumption must not exceed 920 petajoules from the calendar year 2030 and that this figure should be reduced by 20% after 2030. E-Control, as the supervisory authority, plays an important role in the implementation of the law and is obliged to submit annual reports on energy efficiency targets and measures. These reports contain information on compliance with the energy efficiency targets, absolute final energy consumption, energy consumption trends and the total savings achieved through federal and provincial energy efficiency measures. The Act comes into force in various parts and sections, with certain provisions expiring at specific times. There are clear specifications and targets that must be achieved by 2030 in order to improve energy efficiency in Austria and achieve the energy targets. The Act consists of 81 Articles divided into 9 Parts and has 2 Appendixes.
