Abstract
This Decree-Law promotes and protects fishing activity. It consists of 99 articles and 1 table regulating fishing activity in internal and marine waters. It concerns commercial, scientific and sport fishing, laying down the requirements to be satisfied by fishing vessels (including foreign vessels), conditions and taxes to be paid for obtaing a fishing licence (including for non-commercial purposes) by fishing entities. It concerns underwater fishing, fishing gear, requirements for obtaining a licence for performing aquaculture activity. This Decree-Law establishes financial matters, controls to be carried out by competent authority and sanctions to be paid by offenders. The table specifies the requirements of authorized aquaculture and mariculture products to be exploited (including ornamental fish, molluscs, seaweeds, etc.). It also prescribes the requirements for the fishing and treatment of whales.
