Abstract
Annex I to this Directive establishes the principles of good laboratory practice (GLP) to be applied in the performance of tests on chemical products, as provided for in Directive 67/548/EEC. The principles of GLP shall be applied also in respect of tests of chemical products to evaluate their safety for man and the environment. They concern the non-clinical safety testing of test items contained in, among others, pesticide products, veterinary drugs as well as food additives and feed additives. The good laboratory practice principles are described with detail under Section II of the Annex attached, which deals with (i) test facility organization and personnel, (ii) quality assurance programme, (iii) facilities, (iv) apparatus, materials and reagents, (v) test systems, (vi) standard operating procedures, (vii) reporting of study results, (viii) storage and retention of records and materials.
