Abstract
This Regulation sets forth a Community procedure for authorizing the placing on the market and use of feed additives. Moreover, the Regulation lays down rules governing the supervision and labelling of feed additives and premixtures in order to provide the basis for the assurance of a high level of protection of human health, animal health and welfare, environment and users' and consumers' interests in relation to feed additives, whilst ensuring the effective functioning of the internal market. The provisions do not cover veterinary medicinal products.
The Regulation is composed of four Chapters and four Annexes. Chapter II makes provision on authorization, use, monitoring and transitional measures applicable for feed additives. Chapter III deals with labelling and packaging. Chapter IV provides, inter alia, for the setting up of the Community Register of Feed Additives, which is to be made available to the public.
