Abstract
This Regulation aims at ensuring the free movement of detergents and surfactants for detergents in the internal market of the European Community while, at the same time, guaranteeing a high level of protection of the environment and human health. To this end, there are laid down rules relating to: (a) the biodegradability of surfactants in detergents; (b) restrictions or bans on surfactants on grounds of biodegradability; (c) the additional labelling of detergents, including fragrance allergens; and (d) the information that manufacturers must hold at the disposal of the Member States competent authorities and medical personnel.
