Abstract
This Regulation lays down rules for the establishment of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund for the period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2027, with the aim of channelling funding from the Union budget to support the Common Fisheries Policy, the Union s maritime policy and the Union s international commitments in the field of ocean governance. The priorities of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund are: (1) fostering sustainable fisheries and the restoration and conservation of aquatic biological resources; (2) fostering sustainable aquaculture activities, and processing and marketing of fishery and aquaculture products, thus contributing to food security in the Union; (3) enabling a sustainable blue economy in coastal, island and inland areas, and fostering the development of fishing and aquaculture communities; and (4) strengthening international ocean governance and enabling seas and oceans to be safe, secure, clean and sustainably managed.

Entry into force notes
This Regulation shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. It shall apply from 1 January 2021 with regard to the support under direct and indirect management provided for in Title III.
