Abstract
Comprehensive enactment consisting of 137 sections divided into 16 Chapters. The 16 Chapters provide for the following matters: General provisions (1); Fishing rights (2); Leasing out of fishing rights (3); Rights related to the carrying out of fishing activities (4); Protection of fish movements and fish stock (5); Fishing gear and fishing operations (6); Closed areas (7); Fishing Corporations (8); Fishing regions (9); Employment and Economic Development Centres (10); Enhancement of fishing industry (11); Regulation of fish products (12); Supervision and control, enforcement (13); Penal provisions (14); Miscellaneous provisions (15); Entry into force and transitional provisions (16).
Chapter 6 contains various fish conservation provisions relative to fishing gear, breeding season and minimum size, restrictions on catch, etc. Chapter 9 provides for the division of Finland in fishery areas for purposes of administration. Chapter 10 provides for Fishery District Offices which shall supervise and give directions to administrations of fishery areas.
