Abstract
This Legislative Decree repeals and amends several national provisions concerning food production and food safety, in order to put the legislative framework in line with Directive 2004/41/EC, which deals with food hygiene and health conditions for the production and placing on the market of certain products of animal origin intended for human consumption. Moreover, the Legislative Decree designates the Ministry of Health, the Regions, the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano as well as local health authorities as the responsible institutions for implementing the provisions of Regulations (EC) No. 852/2004, No. 853/2004, No. 854/2004 and No. 882/2004. Further provisions concern slaughtering out of slaughterhouses, as well as penalties.
