Legislative Decree No. 220 implementing articles 8 and 9 of EEC Regulation No. 2029/91 on biological production.

The Decree provides for the implementation of articles 8 and 9 of EC Regulation No. 2029/91, with specific regard to the control of farming techniques, preparation and import of products obtained through biological production.
The supervision of the controls is entrusted to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Resources and an advisory Committee established under the Ministry according to the provisions of the present Decree. The organisms that are in charge of said controls must be authorized by Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Resources, upon favourable advice of the Committee. Final provisions concern the registration of the producers in regional and national lists. The Decree is followed by five Annexes containing specimens of the forms to be submitted to the appropriate authorities and regarding the following: Application for the authorization (I); Technical requisites of the control organisms (II, part I); Requisites of representatives and administrators (II, part II); Obligations of the control organisms (III); Declaration of the farmers engaged in biological production (V.1); Yearly production programme (V.2); Report on the inspection on production activity (V.3); Registers of the farms (V.4); Notice regarding the import of biological products from third countries (V.5).
