Abstract
This Law has as its purpose to ensure veterinary and sanitary well-being, safety of animal products and raw materials of animal origin, animal drugs, animal feedstuffs and animal food additives, and also protection of the population against diseases common to animals and human beings. The Act consists of six Chapters divided into 37 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) state regulation; (3) state veterinary inspection; (4) prevention and liquidation of animal diseases; (5) research; (6) financing and liability. The scope of this Law shall be: (a) protection and cure of animals; (b) protection of the population against diseases common animals and human beings; (c) veterinary and sanitary border inspection; (d) protection of the national territory against the introduction from abroad of the infectious and exotic animal diseases; (e) arrangements for combating animal diseases and veterinary and sanitary inspection of foodstuffs and raw materials of animal origin; (f) research. Veterinary activities shall be subject to compulsory licensing by the authorized state veterinary institution. The state veterinary inspection shall supervise: (a) animals and animal genetic resources; (b) pests and pathogens; (c) foodstuffs and raw materials of animal origin, animal drugs, feedstuffs and food additives, transport means and packaging materials. Quarantine shall be imposed by the local self-government in accordance with the written statement of the state veterinary inspector in case of the outbreak of the infectious animal disease.
