Abstract
Fish means all marine and freshwater animals fit for human consumption or used as feeding stuffs, except mammals, reptiles and amphibious animals. Fish products are products of which raw material of fish forms a substantial part. The Act applies also to imported fish (sect. 1). Pursuant to section 2 the Government may issue rules relative to processing and storage of fish and fish products, rules which regulate the sale of fish and fish products, rules which prohibit the use of fish in certain periods or from certain origin, rules which prescribe quality standards for fish or fish products, or rules which place limits on importation of fish and fish products. Prime responsibility for control of the observance of provisions of the present Act and implementing regulations is assigned to a control body to be appointed by the Crown. (11 sections)
