Abstract
This Law regulates the conservation, protection, planning, cultivation, use and management of forests and forest land on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, including all necessary rules and requirements defining the control over the implementation of provided rules, monitoring, inspection, as well as other issues relevant to forests and forest land and areas.
The provisions of this Law are related to forests and forest land in all forms of property. Public enterprise for Forest Management "Srbijasume" and public company for forest management "Vojvodinašume" (as official national forest institutions) are obliged to conduct their business and general activities by implementing the provisions of this Law within one year from the date of its entry into force.
This Law further provides the conditions for sustainable forest management and forest land as good of general interest, in order to maintain and improve their productivity, biodiversity, capacity for renewal and vitality and enhances their potential for mitigation of the climate change, as well as their economic, ecological and social functions and development in environmentally safe, sustainable and secure way.
The Law is divided into XIV Chapters and 121 articles, including offences and related penalties.
The Annex containing the list of forests and forest lands and areas are an integral part of this Law.
Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", and it will fully apply after six months.
