Abstract
The purposes of this Law are to use energy effectively, prevent energy waste, reduce the burden of energy costs on the economy and to increase efficiency in the use of energy resources and energy to protect the environment. To achieve this countrywide, the Act establishes an Energy Coordination Board. This Board is consisted of sixteen members from different ministries. The duty of the Board is to make policies and projects to increase energy efficency. The policies of the board are implemented by the Directorate General of Sustainable Energy. The Act furteher covers provisions on education and raising awareness on energy efficiency, government supports for energy efficiency projects. The Act finally provides for administrative sanctions. The Act is consisted of five Chapters, twenty articles and seven provisional clauses.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force on the day it is published in the Official Journal. Clause (a) of Article. 10 of this Law enters into force two yeras after its publication in the Official Journal.

The provisions of this Law are governed by the Council of Ministers.A consolidated version of the present Law, as last amended by the decision of the Constitutional Court dated 7 December 2023, is attached.
