Date: Monday 3 - Wednesday 5, June 2024
Venue: United Nations Office in Nairobi, Kenya
Following the first global meeting of national focal points for Montevideo Programme V, that was held in two segments: an online segment from 2 to 4 June 2021, and an in-person segment, in hybrid format, at the United Nations Office in Nairobi from 6 to 9 June 2022, national focal points will reconvene for the second global meeting.
The meeting will be held back-to-back with a global training on the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction, scheduled for Thursday, 6 June 2024.
A live schedule of events is available here.
Please do not hesitate to write to us at unep-montevideo@un.org, should you have any queries.
Six side events will take place during the Second Global Meeting of National Focal Points, and one during the global training on the BBNJ Agreement.
The secretariat of the Montevideo Programme V selected a limited number of side events that optimally showcase the key priority areas under the Montevideo Programme V, and cross-cutting activities, while aligning to the meeting’s theme of, “Access to environmental information, public participation in environmental decision-making, and access to justice in environmental matters, and environmental defenders.”
Side events will be held from 3 to 5 June 2024 between 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. East Africa Time (EAT).
For more information about the side events, please see the table below and visit the side events page:
