Abstract
This Law prescribes all necessary procedures and terms for limited use, cross-border transmission, intentional introduction into the environment and placing on the market of genetically modified organisms and products consisting, containing or originating from genetically modified organisms.
The main objective of this Law is to provide a high level of protection of human life and health, health and welfare for animals, and to ensure the implementation of practices/principles of common and/or general interest for consumers regarding the use and production of GMOs on the on the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Law is divided into XI Chapters and 72 articles, including monitoring duties and offences and related penalties.

Regulation on the content of application and technical documentation for the placing on the market, the conditions for labelling and packaging of genetically modified organisms or products that contain and/or consist from genetically modified organisms.
Regulation on conditions and procedure for issuing the approval for placing of genetically modified food and feed on the market of BiH for the first time and requirements related to their traceability and labelling.
Regulation on establishment of the system for the development and assignment of unique codes for genetically modified organisms.
Regulation on the content and scope of risk assessment for the placing on the market of genetically modified organisms or products containing and/or deriving from genetically modified organisms (here meant for food and foodstuff, animal feed, plants and other if intended for human consumption) and methodologies for the elaboration of risk assessment.
