Abstract
This Directive lays down procedures and measures intended to prevent and reduce as far as possible the direct and indirect effects of emissions of volatile organic compounds into the environment, particularly into the air, and the potential risks to human health, from the activities specified in Annex I, such as manufacturing of pharmaceutical products, printing and wood impregnation. The installations where those activities are carried out shall be registered or undergo authorization before being put into circulation. Member States shall draft and implement national plans for reducing emissions from these activities and installations (art. 6).
