Abstract
This Regulation concerns the classification, labelling and packaging of hazardous chemicals when they are exported from the Member States to other Parties or other countries. These provisions are adopted pursuant to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade. The objectives are to promote shared responsibility and cooperative efforts in the international movement of hazardous chemicals in order to protect human health and the environment from potential harm, as well as to contribute to the environmentally sound use of hazardous chemicals. The Annex lays down the list of chemicals subject to export notification procedure and those subject to the Prior Informed Consent Procedure.
