Abstract
This Law hereby regulates the hunting activities, management of hunting grounds and management and conservation of game and other related species if subject to hunt. The management includes the cultivation, protection, hunting and use of game and its parts. Article 9 offers the list of wildlife species that are recognized under the terms of this Law.
The text is divided into X Chapters, as follows: Basic provisions (I); Hunting, types of hunting grounds, areas not suitable for hunting (II); Hunting rights (III); Hunting plan (IV); Breeding and protection of game (V); Hunting and use of game (VI); Damage and damage compensation (VII); Administrative and inspection supervision (VIII); Penalty provisions (IX); Transitional and final provisions (X). Main topics covered in these Chapters are: classification of wildlife game; state and private owned hunting grounds; land use and lease, concessions; several remuneration and financial issues; game trophy and related issues; several inspection and warden duties and responsibilities.
Basic provisions of this text are setting the following principles: game is a good of great interest to the Republic of Croatia and has its special protection; establishment of different hunting grounds is in the interest of the Republic of Croatia. The principal aim of this text is to impose the controlled, safe and rational use of natural resources, with a significant purpose in terms of economic, tourist and recreational functions and the function of protecting and preserving biodiversity and the ecological balance of natural habitats, wildlife and wild fauna and flora on the territory of the Republic of Croatia; to ensure the sustainable management of game populations and their habitats in a manner and in a manner that permanently improves the vitality of the game population, the production capacity of the habitat and biodiversity. This Law also transposes the provisions contained in the Council Directive 92/43/EEC of 21 May 1992 on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora; and Directive 2009/147/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 November 2009 on the conservation of wild birds.
