Abstract
This Law regulates the safety of water for human consumption in order to protect the human health from adverse effects of any contamination of water and to ensure the safety and sustainability of water for human consumption. The Law provides for: the competent authority for the implementation of this Law and the manner of reporting to the European Commission; the liability of legal persons engaged in the supply of water for human consumption on the territory of the Republic of Croatia; the procedures of reporting in case of deviation from the parameters, monitoring (and data collection) and other official controls and procedures for mandatory safety of water for human consumption and their financing.
The Law is divided into 9 Chapters and 50 articles, including offences and penalties.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force on the date of Croatian accession to the European Union, except for the provisions of article 38, 39 to 43 which shall enter into force on 1 January 2014.
