Abstract
This Federal Law establishes the status of Exclusive Economic Zone, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of the Russian Federation in its Exclusive Economic Zone and their application in accordance with the Russian Constitution, universally recognized principles and norms of international law and international agreements of the Russian Federation. The document consists of VII Chapters that contain 44 Articles. Chapter I lays down the general provisions. Chapter II regards rational use and preservation of living resources. Chapter III deals with exploration and exploitation of lifeless resources. Chapter IV concerns scientific research of resources and sea. Chapter V regards protection and preservation of marine surroundings. Chapter VI determines the particulars of economic relationship as regards the use of living and lifeless resources within Exclusive Economic Zone. Chapter VII regards the modalities of carrying out the provisions of this Federal Law.
