Abstract
The present Act lays down provisions relating to tasks in the field of inland navigation. Article 1 establishes that the Federation is, inter alia, responsible for the: 1) promotion of inland waterway transport in the interest of Germany; 2) prevention of threats and the facilitation of inland navigation; 3) granting of permits to navigate on federal waterways; 3) tonnage measurements on federal waterways. The text, consisting of 16 articles, deals with the following aspects: tasks and competences of the federal state, authorization of navigation, issuing of provisions, the port of Hamburg, penalties, advisory board, inland navigation database, registers, general administrative provisions. Article 4 on costs is deleted.
