Abstract
This Regulation establishes a framework of Community rules on a system of protection of geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products intended for human consumption and foodstuffs. However, wine products and spirit drinks are excluded from the application. To be eligible for a protected designation of origin or a protected geographical indication, an agricultural product or foodstuff shall comply with a product specification. Detailed provisions regulate the registration procedure.
