Abstract
This Directive aims at the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous preparations, and at the approximation of specific provisions for certain preparations which may present hazards, whether or not they are classified as dangerous within the meaning of this Directive, when such preparations are placed on the market of the Member States. The classification of dangerous preparations according to the degree and specific nature of the hazards involved shall be based on the definitions of categories of danger laid down in this Directive. Member States shall also take all necessary measures to ensure that preparations cannot be placed on the market unless their packaging satisfies specific requirements.
