Abstract
This Act makes provision for powers to regulate sea fisheries in the territorial sea of Jersey and powers of enforcement of fishery officers appointed under this Law, for the application of European Community provisions to sea fisheries in Jersey, for the definition of offences and some exemptions from provisions relating to offences in respect of mariculture and some other matters relating to sea fisheries.
The Act grants extensive powers to regulate, authorize or restrict sea fisheries by the States. The Act prohibits the landing, sale, exposure or offering for sale or possession of undersized fish or lobster which is carrying spawn. The Act also contains some rules concerning access by foreign fishing boats to the territorial sea of Jersey and prohibits fishing by such boats except in accordance with provisions of this Act. The Act defines offences also in relation with European Community provisions and mariculture.

This is a revised edition of the law Showing the law as at 1 January 2018.Notwithstanding the repeal of the Sea-Fisheries (Jersey) Laws 1962 to 1992: (a) any Regulations made under those Laws which have effect; and (b) any appointment of a fishery officer under those Laws which is subsisting, on the commencement of this Article shall continue to have effect as if made under this Law, save that any such Regulations shall not apply to the extended territorial sea.
