Abstract
This Decree-Law is composed of eight chapters divided in 48 articles and five Annexes. It rules on production, control, certification and commercialization of propagating material from vegetable species (except for seeds) and fruit trees. It introduces in the national legal order Commission Directive 2006/124/EC on the marketing of vegetable propagating and planting material other than seed and Council Directive 2002/55/EC on the marketing of vegetable seed. The Decree institutes a National Catalogue of Varieties. Moreover it regulates production control, certification and packaging/labelling procedures. Particular attention is paid to marketingaspects. Finally, it defines inspection procedures. Annexes provide technical standards and procedures in compliance with “EC Quality” certification.
