Abstract
This Law makes provisions for the establishment of an efficient, effective, scientifically based Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and for regulating, through coordination, the activities relating to food production, import, processing, stockpiling, supplying, marketing and sales as well as to ensure the people’s right toward access to safe food through appropriate application of scientific processes and state of the art technology.
This Law consists of 13 Chapters divided into 90 articles: Short Title and Definitions (1); food safety institutional framework (2); Federal food safety management committee (3); Funding, budget and audit of accounts (4); Restrictions relating to food safety measures (5); Special responsibility for food traders (6); Food analysis and testing (7); Food inspection (8); Penalties and offences (9); Food Court trial proceedings (10); Civil remedy (11); Administrative investigations and penalties (12); Miscellaneous.
