Abstract
This Act provides for the safe use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation and with the safety of radioactive waste management and spent fuel management.
The governmental bodies responsible for the implementation of this Act are the Ministry of Economics and Energy and the Nuclear Regulatory Agency.
The Nuclear Regulatory Agency shall issue, modify, suspend or revoke licences and permits for the use of nuclear energy or sources of ionising radiation. The Act specifies the rights and duties of licensees in conducting those activities in order to ensure nuclear safety and radiation protection.
The Act further makes provision for the following matters: management of radioactive waste and spent fuel; establishment of radiation protection areas; physical protection; emergency planning and preparedness measures; and application of safeguards; civil liabilities for nuclear damage; administrative liabilities; administrative enforcement measures; etc.
