Abstract
The Act applies to the production, storage, preparation, importation and marketing of organic agricultural and fishery products, including foodstuffs. It sets out standards for the development of organic commodities by protecting consumers' interests and meeting their demand for animal and human health. The Minister for Food, Agriculture and fisheries shall nominate the Organic Food Council which shall have responsibility in implementing and recommending solutions in this sector. Members of the Organic Food Council shall be representatives of national Ministries and Institutions from the environment, agriculture, fisheries and commercial sector. Approval of organic products shall carry a specific label as a seal of compliance following due inspection and data registration.
