Abstract
The Danish Agricultural Agency is an Agency under the Ministry of Environment and Food. The Agency implements the Ministry's business policy in agriculture and processing, and is also Denmark's paying organism of funds from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). This Order establishes the Agency's administration duties in relation to EU support schemes in the agricultural sector; funds for research, development and demonstration projects in fisheries, food and veterinary matters; plants and plant products; organic agricultural production and authorization of ecologists; sustainable use of agricultural land, including the operation of agricultural land; commercial fertilizers and soil improvers; conservation of plant and animal genetic resources, etc. It also sets inspection and monitoring duties in relation to certain Danish legislations in the food, environment, and agricultural sector. The Agency also provides technical assistance to the Minister for the Environment and Food and other public authorities. The Order also sets detail provisions on the Powers exercised by the Director of the Danish Agricultural Agency on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Food in relation to certain legislations relevant to the food and agriculture sector. The Agency s administration duties extend to the Urban and Rural Acts, and to the Fisheries Development Act. Cross-compliance of powers for the protection of animal welfare conferred by an authority under the Ministry of Environment and Food shall be exercised by the director of the Danish Agricultural Agency in accordance to article 24a, sections 2-3, 6.
