Abstract
This Directive lays down animal health conditions governing intra-Community trade in, and imports from third countries of poultry and hatching eggs. Each Member State shall designate a national reference laboratory to be responsible for coordinating the diagnostic methods provided for in this Directive. Hatching eggs, day-old chicks, breeding poultry and productive poultry must come from: approved establishments and provisions for their transport and marketing are laid down in this Regulation. Control programmes and provisions for diseases to which poultry are susceptible, are also set having regard to health conditions and vaccinations. In Chapter II are laid down rules for imports from third countries.
