This Chapter of the Michigan Compiled Laws provides for the incorporation of water power companies; and authorizes the formation of corporations for the purpose of damming, excavating, constructing and maintaining water courses with water power appurtenant thereto, for accumulating, storing, manufacturing, conducting, using, selling, furnishing and supplying water and water power, electricity and electric power, and all and every kind of power for mining, milling, manufacturing, domestic, municipal and agricultural purposes, and for the purpose of transportation and for all other purposes in the upper peninsula of Michigan. The Chapter further authorizes the formation of corporations for the purpose of generating, manufacturing, producing, gathering, storing, transmitting, distributing, transforming, selling and supplying electric energy or gas, either artificial or natural, or both electric energy and gas, to the public generally, or to public utilities or natural gas companies, and providing for and giving to such corporations and also to corporations heretofore lawfully organized, among other things, for such purposes; to corporations heretofore lawfully organized, or that may hereafter be lawfully organized and duly authorized to carry on the electric or gas business as a public utility in the state of Michigan; and to foreign corporations heretofore lawfully organized or that may hereafter be lawfully organized, among other things, for such purposes, and duly authorized to carry on business in the state of Michigan, the right to condemn private property for the uses provided for herein. The Chapter also authorizes the formation of companies for the introduction of water into towns, cities and villages, in the state of Michigan; certain water supply companies, now or hereafter organized, to also operate electrical plants in connection with their waterworks systems; the formation of corporations for the purpose of supplying to, distributing and selling water to a township or townships and giving to such corporations rights to take water from the Great Lakes, Lake St Clair, and the bays thereof; authorizing a township or townships to contract with such corporations for the purchase of water by said township or townships and authorizing any township to purchase waterworks, systems, installations and real and personal property of such corporations; authorizing such township or townships to pass ordinances with respect thereto; and to prescribe penalties and provide remedies.

This Act prohibits various acts of cruelty against livestock and other animals and provides for punishment of such offences. Acts that are prohibited include: using animals for fighting, not providing impounded animals with sufficient food and water, and injuring or abusing animals. El Código Civil actualmente vigente en Uruguay fue promulgado el 26 de febrero de 1866. La última modificación fue introducida en 2008 por la Ley N° 18387 de 23/10/2008.
El Código se compone de cuatro Libros, un título preliminar y un título final, a saber: I) De las personas; II) De los bienes y del dominio o propiedad; III) De los modos de adquirir el dominio; y IV) De las obligaciones.
DERECHO DE PROPIEDAD Y OTROS DERECHOS REALES. El Libro Segundo establece el régimen que se aplica al derecho de propiedad y demás derechos sobre los bienes, tanto muebles como inmuebles. En cuanto a la definición de inmuebles, se reputan como tales las cosas que no se pueden transportar de un lugar a otro, como las tierras, las minas y los edificios. Los árboles y plantas son inmuebles, mientras adhieran al suelo por sus raíces. Lo son también los frutos pendientes de las mismas plantas o árboles, en cuanto siguen al fundo en todos los cambios de dominio. Además, se reputan inmuebles, aunque por su naturaleza no lo sean, las cosas que están permanentemente destinadas al uso, cultivo y beneficio de un inmueble, sin embargo de que puedan separarse sin detrimento. Tales son por ejemplo: utensilios de labranza o minería y los animales actualmente destinados al cultivo o beneficio de una finca; abonos existentes en ella; o viveros de animales, entre otras. Por otra parte, el Código regula los derechos reales y personales como bienes incorporales; y distingue entre bienes de propiedad nacional y propiedad particular, siendo los primeros aquellos de dominio público, entre los que se incluyen los caminos, puertos, ríos, arroyos navegables, agua corriente, puentes y canales y demás obras públicas (art. 478). En cuanto a las formas de adquirir el dominio, éstos se regulan en el libro III. El Código reconoce como formas: la ocupación, la accesión, la tradición, la sucesión por causa de muerte y la prescripción. Dentro de la ocupación se regula la caza y pesca como formas de adquirir el dominio sobre animales fieros o salvajes (art. 708). Respecto al usufructo, cabe resaltar que el usufructuario tiene derecho a percibir todos los frutos naturales, industriales o civiles de los bienes usufructuados (art. 502), siendo definidos los frutos naturales como las producciones espontáneas de la tierra, las crías y demás productos de los animales (art. 503).
OBLIGACIONES Y CONTRATOS. El Libro Cuarto establece las reglas generales sobre las fuentes de las obligaciones, sus efectos, el cumplimiento e incumplimiento de las mismas, y los distintos modos de extinción de las obligaciones. Entre las fuentes de las obligaciones se contemplan los contratos, y se introducen disposiciones aplicables a los contratos en general, como así también normas especiales sobre contratos en particular, incluyendo la venta y el arrendamiento. Los artículos 1856 a 1874 regulan el censo. Por otra parte, respecto al arrendamiento de predios rústicos, el código señala que será un goce abusivo en los predios rústicos arrancar árboles, hacer cortes de montes, salvo si el arrendatario lo hiciera para sacar la madera necesaria para los trabajos del cultivo de la tierra o mejora del predio o a fin de proveerse de leña o carbón para el gasto de la casa (art. 1814). También se dispone que el arrendatario de predio rústico no tendrá derecho para pedir rebaja del precio o renta, alegando casos fortuitos extraordinarios que han deteriorado o destruido la cosecha. Exceptúase el colono aparcero, pues en virtud de la especie de sociedad que media entre el arrendador y él, toca al primero una parte proporcional de la pérdida que por caso fortuito sobrevenga al segundo, antes o después de percibirse los frutos, salvo que el accidente acaezca durante la mora del colono aparcero en contribuir con su cuota de frutos al arrendador. (art. 1817).
SUCESIONES. El derecho de sucesiones se regula dentro de las formas de adquisición del dominio, en el libro III, contemplándose tanto la sucesión testamentaria como ab intestato. El Código hace mención específica al legado de un predio, estipulando que, en el legado de un predio, no se comprenden los terrenos y edificios que el testador le haya agregado después del testamento. Cuando se lega parte de un predio, se entiende con las servidumbres que para su goce o cultivo le sean necesarias (art. 931). También hay una mención específica al legado de rebaños, Si se lega un rebaño, se deberán los animales de que se componga al tiempo de la muerte del testador y no más (art. 932).
TIERRA Y SUELOS. El derecho de propiedad no se limita a la superficie de la tierra, sino que se extiende por accesión a lo que está sobre la superficie y a lo que está debajo. El propietario puede hacer arriba todas las plantaciones y construcciones que juzgue convenientes, salvas las excepciones establecidas por la ley o la convención. Puede hacer debajo todas las construcciones y excavaciones que juzgue a propósito y sacar de esas excavaciones todos los productos que puedan darle, con las modificaciones de las leyes y reglamentos relativos a minas o policía (art. 748). Todas las obras, siembras y plantaciones hechas en un terreno, se presumen hechas por el propietario a sus expensas y que le pertenecen, si no se prueba lo contrario. (art. 749).
AGUAS. El Código contempla varias disposiciones aplicables a las aguas, tanto en el ámbito del régimen del derecho de propiedad como en tema de servidumbres. Para empezar, en el Capítulo del libro II relativo a los bienes con relación a las personas, se establece que son propiedad nacional de uso público: los ríos o arroyos navegables o flotables en todo o parte de su curso; las riberas de esos ríos o arroyos, en cuanto al uso que fuere indispensable para la navegación; el agua corriente aun de los ríos no navegables o flotables, en cuanto al uso para las primeras necesidades de la vida, si hubiere camino público que la haga accesible; y los puentes y canales (art. 478). Por otra parte, el Código dedica diversos artículos a la gestión del agua en el capítulo dedicado a las servidumbres, como el artículo 619 relativo al desagüe de edificios. Al constituirse una servidumbre, se entienden concedidos todos los derechos necesarios para su uso. Así, el que concede al vecino el derecho de sacar agua de una fuente situada en su heredad, le concede el derecho de tránsito para venir a ella, aunque no se haya establecido en el título (art. 637). No obstante, diversos artículos aparecen derogados por el Decreto-Ley Nº 14.859 (Código de Aguas) de 15/12/78.
GANADO. Los animales se encuentran regulados dentro de los bienes muebles. Dentro de las normas aplicables al dominio se establece que se podrá adquirir por accesión los animales desde que están en el vientre de la madre, siendo que el parto de los animales pertenece exclusivamente al dueño de la hembra, salvo que haya estipulación contraria y sin perjuicio de las excepciones que establezcan leyes especiales (art. 735). Por otra parte, en tema de usufructo establecido sobre rebaños y ganados, el artículo 522 se refiere a la obligación de restitución de animales que mueren o se pierden, salvo que la muerte o pérdida fuesen imputables a su hecho o culpa, pues en este caso deberá indemnizar al propietario. Si el ganado o rebaño perece del todo por efecto de una epidemia u otro caso fortuito, el usufrucutuario no está obligado a reponer los animales perdidos y cumplirá con entregar los despojos que hayan podido salvarse.
PESCA Y CAZA. Además de lo anteriormente señalado en relación a la adquisición del dominio mediante caza y pesca de animales salvajes, cabe destacar que el Código contiene en los artículos 708 a 716 una serie de normas aplicables a caza y pesca. En dichos artículos se establece que sólo se puede cazar en tierras propias o en las ajenas con permiso del dueño; y pescar en los arroyos, estanques, lagunas o charcos de propiedad particular propias o con permiso del dueño. Se podrá pescar libremente en el mar territorial, en los ríos y arroyos de uso público (art. 713).

This Act take measures to prevent the spreading of contagious or infectious diseases among animals in the State of Tamil Nadu. The Act provides that the State Government shall set up hospital-pounds. The Act further states that when an animal is infected, the owner is required to give notice to the pound wherein the animal shall be examined and inspected. The pound keeper shall be responsible for treating the diseased animals. If the animals are not treatable, the pound keeper shall destroy and bury the diseased animal. The Act also mentions a penalty to be applied to the owners for failing to give notice when animal is attacked by diseases.

The Surveyor-General or any of his assistants have the power to demand to any person claiming to be the owner or occupier of lands or premises the production of deeds, documents or instruments upon which such person founds his claim. Said power include also the power of examining such deeds, documents and instruments. The Surveyor-General or any of his assistants may, after reasonable notice given to the occupier, enter upon any land or premises for the purpose of making surveys or inspections.

This Act grants powers to the Minister to establish pounds, provides for the management and operation of public pounds, the impounding of stray animals and the recovery by owners or disposal of impounded animals.
There shall be appointed a sufficient number of pound keepers for purposes of this Act. An owner of private land may send stray animals found on his or her land to the nearest pound for impounding. The Act prohibits maltreatment of stray animals and improper impounding. A pound keeper shall keep records on impounded animals and keep animals in the pound according to standards as set out by this Act.

This Act concerns judicial sales of property including agricultural crop. It gives rules for the seizure and execution by way of sale. At any time, while the execution debtor remains in possession of the property seized, as judicial sequestrator, any creditor may obtain an order for the sale of part or of the whole of the crop of the said property. All sums of money which shall have been advanced by any sequestrator in accordance with the foregoing provisions shall be a privileged claim on the crop of the property.
