Abstract
This Directive was enacted pursuant to article 7 of Directive 2002/53/EC, which requires Member States to provide that the acceptance on their national catalogues of varieties of agricultural plant species is based on the results of official examinations. Varieties of agricultural plant species must fulfill the requirements set out in article 1 in order to be included in the catalogues. The requirements refer to distinctness, stability and uniformity. As regards the value for cultivation or use, the varieties must comply with the conditions laid down in Annex III.
