Abstract
This Directive lays down the legislative framework relating to the organization and functioning of the electricity sector, with a view to securing competitiveness as well as an environmentally sustainable market. It establishes common rules for the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity. Environmental protection is considered among the objectives to be attained in the electricity sector, with particular regard to climate protection.
