Waste Management Code of Georgia (No. 2994-RS).

The Code regulates the legal framework for waste management in Georgia, including the classification of waste and the management of waste streams, covering waste prevention, collection, transportation, recovery and disposal. It establishes general rules for waste handling and defines categories such as hazardous, non-hazardous and municipal waste, as well as specific waste types requiring particular management measures.
The Code sets out the responsibilities of competent authorities, municipalities and private actors involved in waste management. It establishes requirements for waste management activities, including environmental decisions or integrated environmental permits and registration of certain operations, and regulates conditions for waste treatment, temporary storage, landfills and hazardous waste management.
The Code provides for the development of national and municipal waste management strategies and plans, regulates transboundary movements of waste, and introduces obligations for data collection and reporting. It further regulates extended producer responsibility and establishes administrative offences and penalties for violations related to waste management activities.
