Dairy Industry Act (Cap. 336).

This Act provides for the establishment of the Kenya Dairy Board, defines its functions, powers and internal organization and regulates various aspects of the dairy industry. The Act consists of 37 sections divided into 6 Parts.
The Act shall not apply to “non-scheduled area”, i.e. areas that are not scheduled in the Schedule to this Act. The Kenya Dairy Board is established as a body corporate and shall consist of public officers and representatives of the industry and local authorities. The Board shall organize, regulate and develop the efficient production, marketing, distribution and supply of dairy produce and carry out other functions relative to the development of the dairy industry and the stabilization of the market of dairy products. The Act grants extensive regulation-making powers to the Minister who shall, before making such Regulations, obtain advice from the Board. The Act further provides for the registration of primary producers of milk. The Register shall be maintained by the Board.
