Abstract
This Law concerns the protection of health of animals, i.e. cattle, sheep and goats, and all other ruminating animals, horses and swine. The Law to a certain extent also applies to poultry and may be made applicable, by Order, to other animals. The Minister shall appoint a Veterinary Officer for purposes of this Law. The Law defines various measures that shall be taken to prevent the spreading of infectious diseases and prohibits the importation of live cattle into Jersey. The Law furthermore: defines rules relative to the importation and exportation of animals and related matters such as quarantine; grants powers to the Minister to prevent bee diseases; grants powers to the Minister to regulate veterinary therapeutic substances specified in Schedule 3 and other therapeutic substances the purity or potency of which cannot be adequately tested by chemical means; defines offences in respect of such substances; provides for inspection and enforcement; and defines general offences.
