Abstract
The scope of the present Act is to prevent, limit and eradicate infectious diseases in fish and other aquatic animals. The 33 sections are divided into 5 chapters: Scope, application sphere and definitions (1); General obligations (2); Measures for the prevention of disease, identification of installations, etc. (3); Specific measures for the limitation and eradication of disease (4); Other provisions (5). The general duties of chapter 2 include notification of diseases and the duty to prevent their spreading to the extent possible. Chapter 3 specifies various measures for controlling diseases, including; approval of aquaculture installations (sect. 7); the power of the King to establish quarantine areas (sect. 9); restrictions placed on importation and exportation (sect. 11); vaccination (sect. 13); transportation and storage of living and dead fish, food for fish, etc. (sect. 19); killing of fish (sects. 20 and 21); measures against spreading of diseases in fish breeding installations (sect. 23); measures against spreading of diseases of non-captive fish (sect. 24).
