Abstract
This Regulation lays down rules applying to products placed on the market as fertilizers. Fertilizers are defined by article 2 as those materials the main function of which is to provide nutrients for plants. Chapter II of Title I of the Regulation makes rules governing the placing on the market. Particular provisions are prescribed as regards packaging, labelling, identification and traceability. The nutrient content of fertilizers originating in the European Community must comply with the tolerances established in Annex II, which are intended to allow for deviations in manufacture, sampling and analysis. No tolerances are allowed in respect of the minimum and maximum contents specified in Annex I. Title II contains provisions which shall apply to specific types of fertilizers. Title III deals with conformity assessment of fertilizers.
