Abstract
This Law regulates the health of plants as a specific plant production need, including numerous measures and obligations in relation with the occurrence of harmful organisms in plants, plant products and other related and/or derived objects and/or substances; further setting the terms for the effective prevention of the introduction and spread of the above mentioned harmful organisms, measures for suppression and eradication of plant diseases, additional biological measures for plant protection, several phytosanitary issues, access and exchange of necessary data (information system), and also regulates the costs and fees for various related activities in terms of plant health protection and monitoring/verification of such status, competence of the authorities and of the authorized services, secondary authorities and responsible bodies in the field of plant health protection on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
The principal objectives of this Law are the protection of plants and plant products from harmful organisms; the prevention of the introduction and spread of harmful organisms and provision on their suppression; the optimal production and trade of/with cultivated plants; the protection of environment; and the raising public awareness as regards the plant health.
This Law further defines the offences and consequential penalties (Chapter XI).
