Abstract
The Decree establishes provisions on certain substances administered to farm animals for therapeutic purposes and sets out requirements for the examination of animals and fresh meat for the presence of residues. With this Decree, article 2 of Presidential Decree No. 678/1982 is amended and certain provisions are added to article 16 of Presidential Decree No. 599/1985. More specifically, sub paragraph b, paragraph 2 of article 2 of P.D. No. 678/1982 is replaced by the provisions of article 2 to this Decree regarding the administering to farm animals for therapeutic purposes of substances containing hormones. Such therapeutic treatment shall be prohibited for animals intended for fattening. In article 16, a sub paragraph is added regarding third countries legislation on the use of substances, in particular legislation concerning the prohibition or authorization of substances, their distribution, release on to the market and their rules covering administration and inspection. Admission to, or retention on, the list referred to in article 16 of P.D. No. 599/1985 shall be subject to the submission, by the third country concerned, of a plan giving details of the guarantees afforded by the said country for the checking of residues.
