Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to provide propagating material of crops of high quality by promoting the rationalization of agricultural production, environmental and consumer protection. This Act sets out conditions of production, preparation for market, import and marketing of propagating material of agricultural crops: cereals, forage crops, potatoes, beets, oil and fiber, vegetables, fruit and ornamental plants, vines and hops. The Act defines obligations of persons engaged in the production, preparation for market, import and marketing of propagating material of agricultural plants, requirements for the marketing of propagating material of agricultural plants and means of compliance with statutory requirements, governing the entry of varieties of agricultural plants in the catalog and maintenance of varieties which are registered in the catalog. This Act provides also provisions concerning business services in the area of seed production, public authorities, providers of testing varieties and preservation of standard samples, the inspection and supervision. These provisions do not apply to propagating material of agricultural crops for export or reexport.
