Abstract
This Law regulates commercial fishing, non-commercial fishing and recreational fishing which may be carried out after obtaining valid fishing licences by the Minister responsible for marine fishing.
This Law provides for the management, conservation and exploitation of fishery resources, sea welfare, monitoring and reporting on biological quality and diversity of the sea world, including aquaculture.
This Law also provides for the following: fishing vessel register and marking of fishing gear; financing of the fisheries sector; powers of fisheries inspectors; tasks of the authority; duties of the ministry responsible for maritime affairs; and offences and penalties.
It also establishes requirements for obtaining a licence for small scale fishing and specifies conditions attached to such licence.
This Law is divided into 11 Chapters and 117 articles.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette, except for the provisions of article 18 that shall enter into force on the day of entrance of the Croatian Republic into the European Union.
