Abstract
With a view to enhancing environmental protection, this Directive prohibits the marketing of batteries and accumulators containing hazardous substances. Moreover, it sets out rules governing the collection, treatment, recycling and disposal of waste batteries and accumulators to supplement relevant European Community legislation on waste and to promote a high level of collection and recycling of waste batteries and accumulators.
