Abstract
This Law regulates the organization and responsibility in the performance of veterinary service on the territory of the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, including the principles and procedures for the survey and implementation of activities related to the protection from animal and human diseases transmitted by animal products, animal by-products and objects, further defining the issues regarding the activities against infectious diseases in animals (including zoonoses), also prescribing the duties and powers of the Veterinary Chamber and other issues of importance for the national veterinary service.
Animals in terms of this text include all terrestrial animals, fish, aquaculture fish and aquatic species, also wild animals (including those ranched or held in capture breeding, and animals that are hunted on hunting grounds). This Law closely defines various conditions and necessary procedures for the control and eradication of diseases, general conditions for placing the placing on the market of animals and animal products (including the HACCP), including imports, transit of animals, their products, deriving objects, and further providing provisions for the healthcare financing, animal welfare in veterinary public health assets, and other issues related to the performance of veterinary related activities/services.
The Law is divided into IX Chapters and 118 articles, including offences and related penalties.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette, and it will apply on 1 January 2008.
